Our customer, a proudly Quebec-based manufacturing company well established for over 50 years, is recognized for its expertise in the design, manufacture and distribution of metal products. Committed to optimizing its operations and continuing to grow, the company is looking for a Plant Manager to head up one of its key facilities on Montreal's South Shore.
Job specification
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Plant Manager is responsible for the optimal management of the plant and its departments. He or she plays a strategic role in achieving productivity and profitability objectives by planning, organizing, directing and controlling all operational activities. Supported by a team of managers and supervisors (8 managers report to the Plant Manager), the incumbent is also responsible for promoting a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with quality, health and safety standards.
Main responsibilities:
- Supervise daily plant operations to ensure production targets are met.
- Develop and implement programs to optimize labor and equipment utilization.
- Manage plant budget by controlling costs and maximizing profitability.
- Oversee inventory management to ensure optimal supply.
- Implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs to ensure equipment availability.
- Foster a culture of change and continuous improvement within teams.
- Prepare and present production reports to management.
Required profile
The candidate we're looking for is a mobilizing leader who is close to his or her resources and the field, with solid experience in plant management in a heavy manufacturing environment. Ideally with a degree in industrial engineering, operations management or a related field, he or she will have a minimum of 5 to 10 years' experience in a similar position. With excellent communication and change management skills, he or she is able to inspire teams and foster a climate of development and collaboration. Action- and results-oriented, he masters the principles of lean manufacturing and has a strong ability to analyze, solve complex problems and make strategic decisions. Structured and organized, he or she excels at managing priorities and planning operations, while rigorously monitoring performance and paying particular attention to OHS.
